If we as humans would have the inherent feature to be alone, feeling serene and still being happy, possibly the population which is drastic today would be a lot less and each one us would be having our own personal island. But, fortunately or maybe unfortunately, we are extremely evolved individuals in many ways, for whom to love and to be loved is a very basic necessity. Hence being in a relationship is an option which we do choose, to ensure our life to become Happy in the basic instinct as a never ending characteristic differentiating others. Relationship counselling works as a miracle as it is a safe forum in which to discuss issues that, when handled by the couple alone, can too easily spin into ill-temper and recrimination. The feeling that we haven’t been heard in one way or the other in the long run is what prevents us from listening. But when in a counselling, a good therapist acts as the wise broker, allowing each person to have their say, sympathizing with both parties, without taking either of their sides. Therapy becomes a safe diplomatic to and fro channel to discuss, away from the non-actualization atmosphere of domestic life. The therapist can help the couple to see that behind one person’s rage is pain and a history of despair in childhood. Or they might make someone aware of what it feels like to be on the receiving end of never ending hostile relationship silence or controlling inquisitions. They can hold both parties back from one another’s throats for just long enough that they may start to understand what their previously caricatured opponent is going through. One of the key tasks of the therapist is to expose us often enough to a more sane, respectful, reasonable and realistic outlook than our own.

While we all feel sad sometimes, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time (weeks, months or even years) and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression is more than just a low mood – it's a serious condition that affects your physical and mental health.

Recurrent depressive disorder: It involves repeated depressive episodes. During these episodes, the person experiences depressed mood, loss of interest and enjoyment, and reduced energy leading to diminished activity for at least two weeks. Many people with depression also suffer from anxiety symptoms, disturbed sleep and appetite, and may have feelings of guilt or low self-worth, poor concentration and even symptoms that cannot be explained by a medical diagnosis. Here below is the list of possible symptoms to identify them.

Bipolar affective disorder: This type of depression typically consists of both manic and depressive episodes separated by periods of normal mood. Manic episodes involve elevated or irritable mood, over-activity, pressure of speech, inflated self-esteem and a decreased need for sleep.

ON the other hand, Anxiety is a normal and often healthy emotion. However, when a person regularly feels disproportionate levels of anxiety, it might become a medical disorder. When an individual faces potentially harmful or worrying triggers, feelings of anxiety are not only normal but necessary for survival.

confidence, self-help, guidance, career guidance, self-esteem, online counselling

Confidence is a person’s belief that a chosen course of action is the right choice and that they can properly perform that action. As a personality trait, confidence is sometimes referred to as self-confidence. This term describes the attitudes and beliefs people hold regarding their abilities and strengths. People having high levels of self-confidence feel sure enough that they will achieve what they want in their lives and maintain a steady sense of control over themselves. Self-confident people develops trust in their abilities, power and judgement. They feel comfortable and powerful enough in their ability to perform well in a variety of life tasks and experience less anxiety and self-doubt than people with comparatively low self-confidence and self-esteem.

  • Self-confidence can inform how people feel about themselves. The more self-confident people feel, the more likely they will be to take risks to improve their circumstances. The more risks they take, the greater the likelihood they will find success. The more success they experience, the better they tend to feel about themselves, and so on. A cycle infatuates in them which makes them to achieve whatever they need.

  • Self-Esteem can impact a person’s sense of self-efficacy. The more a person believes in the self, the more empowered that person is likely to feel, especially with regard to trying new things.

  • A self-confident attitude can help people feel better able to overcome obstacles. As a result, they may experience less ambiguity when facing new challenges and less fear and anxiety associated with unfamiliar situations. In a turn, anxiety, stress levels and symptoms of even depression begin reducing to an extent.

  • People who are self-confident may be less likely to experience anxiety and self-doubt about their goals and actions and may accordingly experience less stress.

  • These qualities facilitate relationship success, as self-assurance may increase a person’s ability to focus energy on another’s needs in addition to their own needs. This self-sufficiency can lead to balanced and fulfilling strong relationships.
